The Characteristics of Wolf-Like Dog Breeds
A wolf dog is a purebred dog produced by mating a domestic dog with any of the five subspecies of wolves in nature. Domestic dogs can be breeds such as the Shar Pei, Miniature Schnauzer, or Toy dog. The domestic dog can be bred to improve breed qualities such as intelligence, obedience, and coat color. The American Staffordshire Terrier, the Alaskan Malamute, and the British Staffordshire Terrier are the most common types of wolves used in breeding for these purposes. Some of the other breeds of dogs that can be used for this purpose are the Doberman Pincher, the Yorkshire Terrier, and the Old English Sheepdog.
Each dog bred for this purpose represents a cross between a non-wolf dog and a wolf. Many dogs that resemble wolves have been hybridized with domestic dogs. A cross between a non-wolf and a wolf can result in a dog that possesses all the physical characteristics of both the parent species. These include deep wrinkles on the face, long and silky hair, and a white belly.
Hybridizing domestic dogs with wolves can result in a dog that has all the physical traits of both breeds. Some examples of these hybrid animals are the English Toy and Wolf-Like Breed. The English Toy is usually a variation of the Miniature Schnauzer, although it may also look like the Old English Sheepdog. These breeds usually have blue eyes, short, dark hair, and white fur.
The Redbone and Doberman Pincher are another example of red-colored hybrid dogs that resemble wolves. The Redbone is typically the progeny of the Doberman Pincher. Both dogs belong to the non-wolf-related classification of Canine Breeds. The non-wolf-like breeds were created through crossing a wolf-like breeds with other non-wolf-like breeds. These include Portuguese Water Dogs, Setters, Saint Bernards, Golden Retrievers, Anatolian Shepherd Dogs, and Great Danes.
The saarloos wolfdog was created in Germany during the first half of the nineteenth century. It is different from the American Bandogriff in that it does not carry a curly coat. The coat of this breed is very silky and dense. Many people believe that the German shepherds that are known as saarloos have been cross bred with the North American Mastiff.
All of the different wolf-like breeds of dogs that can be found on the American continent have a few things in common. Most are of the strong and confident type, which makes them great companions and pet dogs. Their coats are thick and silky, and they have exceptional skills at herding. They also possess certain characteristics that make them unique, including a wolf-like grin and lustrous eyes.
