The Dumbest Dog Breeds

There are many breeds out there that can make wonderful family pets but unfortunately there are also some breeds that are known for being the dumbest dogs on the planet. This is simply because there are certain characteristics that are common among dumb dogs and make them difficult to train. In many cases, breeders will breed dogs that have the intelligence of hamsters and then try to make them fit into tiny homes or small spaces. It’s a cruel and unusual practice but it does happen. If you don’t want to end up like this, then it’s important to know which breeds of dog are the dumbest and start training accordingly.

Most people who are acquainted with the short-nosed silky coatied Afghan hound can readily admit that they are probably one of the dumbest dog breeds around. They have very little intelligence and tend to only respond to voice commands. Many times, these dogs are even less intelligent than some cocker spaniels. These dogs can also be very stubborn, leading to a lot of annoyance from the owner, who will most likely have to take a lot of time and effort to get the dog trained up.

One of the dumbest dog breeds around is the poodle. These dogs have an extremely high need for attention and always want to be the center of attention. Poodles are high energy dogs that love to jump up on people and shake their hand. The high amount of energy means that these dogs will need a large amount of exercise every day, especially if the individual dog is young.

Some of the dumbest dog breeds around belong to breeds that are considered to be the “aggressive” type. German shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Golden Retrievers, Old English Sheepdogs, and others all have the potential to be violent when provoked. These dogs need extensive obedience training and should not be left alone in a room with a child. These dogs will learn new commands very quickly and will get along well with other dogs, but they are not the type of dog that should be around children.

Some of the dumbest dog breeds around belong to big, strong, intelligent dogs. These dogs have the potential to be very protective of their owners and possessive towards their territory. Some examples of intelligent dogs include Chow Chows, Labrador Retrievers, Huskies, Great Danes, Beagles, and German Shepherds. Other intelligent dogs include Dobermans, Fox Terriers, Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, Dalmatians, and Labradors. Although these dogs have a high need for attention, they are also very affectionate and will not mind being around other animals as long as they get plenty of attention themselves. These dogs have excellent eyesight, intelligence, and can be trained to be great watchdogs.

The dumbest dog breeds around belong to the hybrid category. This includes the Bullmastiff, Basset Hound, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Great Dane, and the Cairn Terrier. Most of these are very intelligent and will perform well in all kinds of activities, but they are not the type of dog to be used in protector dogs or as household pets. Instead, these types of dogs should be kept with their owners as companion or lap dogs.
