Ugly Dog Breeds – Their Identification and Types

Dog breeds are generally categorized into six different categories according to their physical characteristics. The categories are as follows: long haired, short haired, long-haired, short-haired and mixed. These six categories are further divided into subcategories: American, British, Scandinavian, Italian and the rest. The most popular dogs in these six categories are English, Portuguese, Brazilian, Chinese and Italian. Based on the characteristics of these dogs, some dog breeds are considered as “ugly” or “unattractive.”

The breed known as the Bichon Frise is considered to be one of the ugly dog breeds. This breed is considered to have dense fur, hairless eyes and a head with a very small nose. It has a very low activity level, muscular spines and big, round ears. Its body is covered with a thick white fur and it has a thin black ticked coat. This breed can grow up to fifteen pounds in weight and it has a very high activity level. It is said that the Bichon Frise prefers to live in families of three or more because of its sociability.

The American Longhair or Alaskan Malamute is another ugly dog breeds that is famous for its long hair. It has a dense fur coat that is almost white with black markings. The Alaskan Malamute’s body looks like that of a seal with its long ears, white chest and black paws. The Alaskan Malamute is very friendly and loyal to its family and this makes it an excellent pet for those who own it. However, it needs a big area to run around in because of its big size and because of its very heavy and bulky coat.

One of the most Ugly Dog Breeds is the Pug. The Pug is the only breed that was introduced into the world prior to the Great Depression era. It was bred in Japan and China and was said to have originated from China. These ugly dog breeds are also known as pugs because of their wrinkles, short legs and black and white markings on the face, ears, paws and tail. Even though the Pug is considered to be one of the ugliest dogs there are still many of these great dogs around and they are being raised for their valuable fur and breed traits.

While the Pug is considered to be one of the ugliest dog breeds, there are also some Mexican hairless dog breeds that might be right under the same category. The Mexican Hairless Dog is known to have short hairless coats. They have some white hairs on the face, dark markings around their nose, dark undercoats and wrinkly skin.

While you are thinking about breeding any of the ugly dog breeds remember the previous paragraph and also let your imagination run wild because there are more types of these ugly dog breeds than you can think of right now. Some of them are even coming back due to the rise of the popularity of the Pugs in recent years. You will probably never hear about all the other varieties of these ugly dog breeds when they are growing in popularity. It will be great when they do become popular though. Then you will be able to tell everybody what a real ugly dog looks like.
